Wow, profound article! It is extremely difficult for us pacifists to put our values into practical responses, especially in light of the current situation. Hauerwas does as good a job as any I've read.
He also makes an important point that we entertain ourselves with violence, not peace. For a good "alternative" war movie that highlights mercy and nonviolence, watch To End All Wars.
